Geothermal energy in Vietnam
Is geothermal a viable energy option for Vietnam? The Energy and Environment Partnership with the Mekong (EEP Mekong), which promotes renewable energy use as a way of combating climate change, invites tenders for a policy study on “Assessment of the Ability to Exploit Geothermal for Energy Production in Vietnam”.
There are currently no geothermal plants in operation or under construction, and there exists no map for geothermal development. But it is estimated that Vietnam has a potential of 400 megawatts. The study will assess geothermal capacity in the country and establish a list of economic-technical potential sites of geothermal power.
The deadline for submission of tenders is June 18, 2013.
